Nintendo has released the Wii U eShop sales chart for the week ending on December 31 — the last week of 2012. Once again, the top two spots are taken by indie games. Trine 2 remains at the top spot while Little Inferno is the runner up this time. Full list below:

Wonder how many units have been sold online, don't think they are big numbers but it's still good to know.

Hm, would have expected better sales from Scibblenauts Unlimited and ZombiU, but I get it. Outside of the Nintendo faithful there isn't enough to advertise what makes those games unique.

But what metric can you possibly go by with no numbers? 

You expected better ranking?  I don't.  Those games are available at retail.  Games like Trine 2 and Little Inferno are not, so it makes sense that they're at the top of the chart.  NSMBU is just being a Mario game.



It does show that download sales as a % of retail are not high.

So people prefer boxed copies to downloads at the same price? That does not fit with recent industry narrative.

That's the case across all consoles.

Personally, I prefer boxed copies myself.

I hope the industry doesnt go digital only.
