Forums - PC Discussion - Help! How to connect laptop to Denon receiver and display to LG TV

Wondering if anybody can help with this......I just purchased a Denon 1312 receiver and I'm trying to connect my laptop to the receiver and also display the laptop image to my TV.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with an HDMI out and my TV is an LG LED. I currently have my Cable and PS3 connected to the receiver via HDMI and the receiver connected to the TV via HDMI. When I try to connect my laptop to the receiver, I get neither sound nor video to go to the receiver and TV.

The hookup seems fine in theory, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the configuration on my laptop. When I had my laptop going directly to the TV via HDMI, I could switch between the laptop display to the TV display by choosing that option in the graphics menu on the laptop. Now that I have the laptop running to the receiver, I only have the laptop display option available. Am I missing something?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: It was the HDMI cord. All is well.

Sorry I can't help. My Denon receiver is old.

Do you know if the Yamaha RX-V671 is a good receiver and did you consider to buy that one?

Actually I did, and you really can't go wrong with Onkyo, Denon, or Yamaha. That Yamaha had a lot of features that I didn't need (All my online stuff is done through my TV), so I went with the Denon because it had the basic stuff I wanted in a receiver.

Well, actually I dont need the online stuff either. Is there a cheaper Yahama which is more basic?

Do u have 5:1 or 7:1 speakers in your room?

Mine is a 5.1

I'm sure you can find a year old model with the sames specs minus the networking funcionality for about half the price. Amazon is your best bet.
