Forums - General Discussion - The Consciousness is Divisible?

Just an interesting thought that struck me a while back:

As we all know, it is possible to live and to think with only half of your brain intact (which makes the surgical procedure "hemispherectomy" possible). So, what would happen if you were to divide your brain and put each part in two "brain-empty" bodies? Would you be aware of both bodies at the same time? Would the consciousness disappear or completely reshape? Would both bodies be just like two completely new/different human beings with only half of their original mind left? Would there be two "you"Where would your consciousness go?

Well, I was mainly thinking after the wounds were healed

The answer maybe is we already are two consciousnesses, or maybe more. Look at the fig. 1 here, that deals with an experminent on someone with a split brain, a hemispherectomy: http://www.cisi.unito.it/neuropsicologia/didattica/materiali/approfondimenti/attenzione/2003/gazzaniga.pdf

it should be noted that consciousness is a phenomenon that science still knows little about.
