6 studios working on Assassin’s Creed Revelations

The development of the fourth game in the Assassin’s Creed series has been confirmed, and it has quite the army supporting it.

Titled Assassin’s Creed Revelations, the 2011 game is once again led by Ubisoft Montreal, but with five additional Ubisoft studios assisting: Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest. Massive is the new addition, the rest were involved in Brotherhood as well.

The entire series has sold more than 28 million units worldwide to date, today’s announcement also says; plenty of reasons for another one then.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations is seen as the final chapter in protagonist Ezio trilogy and will gallop players to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where those pesky Templars are up to no good again.

The multiplayer component introduced in last year’s game will return, “refined and expanded,” with added maps, modes and characters up for grabs.

In addition, according to Ubi Montreal’s creative director Alexandre Amancio, players can expect “lots of new features and some significant surprises.” But those are being held back for now.

The game will be out in November for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Should history repeat itself though, expect the PC version to slip into 2012.

More information will be included in the June issue of Game Informer, and of course at E3 next month. For now though, check a larger version of the first screenshot above in the gallery here.

its becoming a god damn yearly franchise!!!

well if its a side story them its ok. as long as the ac3 runs on a new engine and takes time to back then its ok.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I'm getting goosebumps over this!!!!!!!!!

I fuckin love Ezio so I sooooo cannot wait for this!

And Altair?!! Hell yeah I can finally play him in the better ACs

NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a serious contender for my GOTY now Uncharted 3!

Might not get this unless it really sounds good and they really do have a good narrative arc involving the three characters.

After AC2 I didn't want more of Ezio, his story was done.  Desmond was the linking character and we should have got AC3, a new setting, a new timeframe and a new historic assassin.

Instead we got a cash in expansion that added multiplayer and further refined the gameplay while barely advancing the narrative arc and featuring a now fairly dull Ezio whose story felt played out.

At this point AC to me feels like a great example of the challenge of sticking to a planned narrative and comercial interests.  After AC2 sold as well as AC and everyone gushed about Ezio and the period it's just felt like Ubi went "great, more of that, stretch out the plot anyway you want and add MP".

I could be wrong and the narrative was always intended to keep Altair and Ezio involved, but a lot of the available background interviews from earlier in the franchise strongly imply each title was to feature a new period/assassin and built to a clear resolution involving Desmond in his "present day" timeframe.  I really feel it's likly Ubi cynically changed course purely for commercial reasons and I've always felt suspicious that the change seemed to align to the departuare of one of the origianl key design leads.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I think Constantinople will be awesome to see actually. And I really disagree with you, Reasonable. I really don't care about the storyline at this point. The Desmond sequences have always been mehworthy to me, and that part of the storyline I haven't cared about much at all. The great storylines in AC II and Brotherhood to me are the ones in Ezio's time period. Nevermind that I actually get more enjoyment from the gameplay and exploring medieval cities than I do from the games stories.

Anyway, I hope Ubisoft improves the stealth missions and free running for a change, since those're the only main things that have bugged me about this franchise in general.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I've already lost pretty much all interest in Ezio, and I think I'm starting to lose my interest in yearly cliffhangers as well.
