This show is amazing, you should try watching it (representative and good episode linked below). If you get over the stereotype of a girl's cartoon, it has strong writing, strong characterisation and is actually funny. You may recognise the show's creator from her previous work.

I watched an episode once, it was alright, don't see what all the fuss is about. The culture built around it is huge though and even 4Chan has banned it because of how popular it got on a couple of it's sections.

I think because it's been 5-10 years since the last good American cartoon existed. As with any good show, a couple of episodes in you start to recognise the depth.

I think there's still a permanent thread on /b/ and /co/ at least.

I cannot beleive YOU of all people like this show.

I used to watch My Little Pony (and the Care Bears) as a kid of the 80's.  That show kicked ass.  Those Sea Pony horses were pretty sexy, too. 

Haven't tried this new version.  It seems kinda like something a sissy would watch.

I haven't watched the 80s version but the consensus elsewhere is that this is much better. Try the episode I linked.

They had to unban it since the front page of many boards were almost completely pony threads, in protest.

It's not only 4chan. I've seen MLP threads at my favourite boards about grim-dark warhammer 40k ;)
