It took a year but there are finally console games that look better than Gears of War, including UT3, MGS4, CoD4, Killzone 2, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, and Gran Turismo 5. I haven't seen Burnout Dominator but I've heard that looks good, too. Ratchet you could argue, and I believe Haze is up there as well.
I'm feeling good that Sony has a deal with Epic to get the Unreal Engine working at full capacity on the PS3, and that there are other developers that are starting to get a handle on the architecture as well.
