I don't think that's necessarily the case.

Now that France and the UK have nuclear weapons, what would a country like Germany do with them? Threat of violence, let alone of the nuclear sort are not relevant to the current or any foreseeable political climate, and anybody threatening a European contry with nukes is threatening us all. We're mostly allied together, or guaranteeing each other's independence anyway.
