Sony Santa Monica has been and still is hard at work on God of War 3. They're not working on anything else.
And as for the Getaway and 8 Days. Those games were in development, but got derailed by a number of factors. A) Home is taking up precious resources. B) Killzone is taking up precious resources. Ultimately, the biggest reason they got cancelled was because of C) Phil Harrison, Worldwide Head of Sony Game Development, left the company and his replacement didn't like the way the two games were shaping up. That's not empty promises. That's called changing circumstances.
Games get cancelled and delayed all the time. Ever heard of Splinter Cell: Conviction or Alan Wake? How about Zelda Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3? Oh noes! MS and Nintendon't keep promises! Where's my mommy!
The fact of the matter is that Sony is releasing two very solid well previewed games this Fall: Resistance2 and LBP. Early next year they have two more games with great potential: Killzone 2 and InFamous. How is this bad again?
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
