You voted for Nintendo to abandon hardcore gamers so they could make some more money. Hilarious really.

The general consensus is that the 360 and PS3 are systems for hardcore gamers.

Microsoft's H&E division: approximately $2.5 billion in losses since launch of the 360.
Sony's gaming division: approximately $3 billion in losses since launch of the PS3.

Does it make sense to cater to hardcore gamers?

I don't care if they lose money, it's not mine. I want hardcore games.

I understand that. But how long do you think will companies continue to make hardcore games first and foremost if that is what they get?

Bu-bu-but it pleases the (shrinking) fanbase! Companies exist solely to make me personally happy, and when one shuts down another will simply take its place!

"Snobcore"... cute, an overgeneralization, but cute. To call them snobs and then become repulsed with the very idea of being assoiciated with them is a bit snobbish in itself, is it not?

I'm not entirely convinced that the 'hardcore' fanbase is shrinking, either. It may make up less of a percentage of gamers as the casual market is greatly expanding but that would only cause it to relatively shrink.
