We shall see who wins by who sells the most.
It is ironic that most of the conversation is about a game that may not be out for Xmas 2009. By that time, others may have a lot of big games out that were only hinted about today.
In other words, Nintendo could have made a big splash about a Zelda game that is being worked on. But instead just hinted that the team got back together. My money is that Zelda Wii gets released in NA before FF XIII.
Now on the serious side, if you look at the announcements, Sony and Microsoft are trying to compete against cable companies and broadband ISP providers with their offerings. (If you don't believe me, Comcast offers me the same NBC shows to watch for free in On Demand with Digital Cable that Microsoft was trumping in its presentation). The downside of that is if ISPs begin charging premiums for excessive downloads (not from them), their business model is gone. And the cable companies are already making noise of going in that direction.
Microsoft's big game announcement seems to be a game that was already coming out on the PS3. Sony's big announcement seems to be a game that plays like it is on PC. Nintendo's big announcement seems to be that it wants everyone to buy another mini-game collection to get a piece of hardware (and I would reserve early as the Big N has not once been able to meet hardware demands this generation).
