People need to remember that E3 is now one, of many shows shown around the year - its no longer the "one big show". Companies are too afraid of being trumped by other companies, and having big announcements stomped all over.
Ninty may yet pull their trick from 2(?) years ago.. where they call a "mini" conference at the end of the show, to announce a new game or two. Or it may come later at an event of their choosing. With their new strategy, its still too long until the end of the year to announce "hardcore" titles - maybe around Sept.
Overall, the big announcements for me were:
- new Wii hardware (mic & Motion+)
- 360 casualisation, new dashboard (curious to know what hardcore 360 fans think of it)
- no new PS3 or 360 controllers
- FFXIII on 360
- GTA on DS
- WiiSports II coming
The Sony conference is the one I was most disappointed in - nothing significant IMO (games we knew were coming anyway, and some PS3 to PSP titles).
