I'm still waiting to hear what "surprises" sony had. As far as I'm concerned they didn't show anything we didn't already know about. Sure Killzone 2 looked nice, but when all is said and done most people seem more excited aby COD4, RE5, Halo 3, nothing for Killzone 2 convinced it will sell amazing. The Price Drop we all knew about, the slim psp we all knew, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, MGS, and just about every other game they showed we knew about already and we didn't see anything new to change our opinion about them. Infamous was new and looked interesting, but the short clip was hardly enough to apreciate the gameplay. GT 5 look like the free demo, and they didn't say anything else about it, or even it's release date.

the best thing about Sony is Little Big Planet, the new videos looked amazing, amazing, amazing. It's the only game they showed that really looked ground breaking. Honestly these next gen guys really have to start pushing the envelope, I'm a little sick of every game looking look like a a dark sci-fi shooter, with hardly anything new in gameplay. The only game that looked to be breaking ground in that area is Fracture.


New at E3: price-cut counts even if it was leaked because it was an E3 announcement (and not everyone knew because many people were predicting no price-cut this year), echochrome, infamous, epic deal with unreal engine whcih confirms EGM (last issue) rumor that Sony has a deal with them for an exclusive game, UT3 with keyboard/mouse support and PC mods which pretty much makes it equal to PC version which is a first in console history and something M$ won't let epic do, GT5 Prologue coming this holiday season sporting the best graphics in console history thus far, Killzone actually living up to expectations, Haze confirmed timed exclusive, ncsoft exclusive deal, home showing completely new areas and a menu option to go straight to multiplayer motorstorm (awesome, just what it needs to be worth it...actually makes it quicker to get to games, not slower), home showing that non-realistic skins will be available since rachet and clank suit was shown, and Sony making fun of themselves showing they aren't pompous jackasses.

What else did you want? It's certainly the most new stuff this year.


Well first off I'm not going to get excited about new menu options, and timed exclusives(we know how this is working out for VF5) Price cut is nice but we all knew it was coming just not this soon, and I saw this as a bad sign, I think Sony should have waited till the holidays. keyboard/mouse support being exciting? Yeah if your a hardcore pc gamer in which case you probably have a pc and play shooters on that. Killzone 2 did look amazing, but after seeing the video, I was incredibly underwhelmed, and it made me realize, graphics in the big picture were not that important the game looks to much like everything else. COD4 looked more itneresting, Fracture's terran deforming grenades and Assassin's Creed crowd AI looked to be pushing the edge more. And GT5 is the same game as always, I don't recall hearing about new gameplay modes, no crash damage was announced, which is really dissapointing.

It's my personal opinion, I just like to see all this high powered technology being used to create something new and amazing, something that gets me to say, "wow, that's so cool, I can't wait to play that!" and the only game that made me feel that way at their conference was Little Big Planet. Which I can't stop saying how awesome it looks. Yet I'm afraid it won't be huge considering how much it stands out from Sony's standard fanfare.


Well, I can't make you get excited, but it was exciting for me.

Home innovations are exciting, but you can relegate that whole thing to menu options if you prefer. Timed exclusives are very useful even if one game (VF5) didn't sell spectacularly. Price cut is nice and probably another will follow after Microsoft cuts their prices this holiday season, if not before M$'s cut. Yes, keyboard/mouse is very exciting trend if I don't want to upgrade my PC all the time. You ignored the bigger deal of mods on consoles for the first time, but you don't seem to get excited easily. Ahh, Killzone 2 looked good to you, and yet GT5 didn't? Alright...Ah...looks like everything else...of course...except both look better than anything else. Those other games you mention are also on the PS3 so even more reason to be excited.

I see fantastic uses of the high powered technology. I can't wait to play the grand majority of the games showed. I've tried to make time to play everything I've wanted to so far...still waiting to play The Darkness (wait on gamefly and blockbuster), about to play Sigma, still trying to finish F.E.A.R. (port not as bad as I...uh...feared), #19 on Stardust HD (I was 12...ok, this is shameless...heh...)

Anyway, sorry you were not as impressed.


 I didn't think they had a bad show, they have some great looking stuff. And btw GT5 does look amazing, my problem is I hate sim racers, I hate Forza 2 and also I'm not excited about PGR4, just so you know. If Sony came out with something to rival Burnout I'd go crazy over it. I actually thought Pain looked like fun, Pain, Rachet, and Little Big Planet. The keyboard thing seemed more like a niche market to me, even for me I do actualy prefer a keyboard and mouse for fps gameplay, but I woudn't bother hooking one up to my systems because I don't want to play like that in my living room, I'd need a table and stuff it just sounds annoying. The mods things I'm sure is cool, but again a niche thing I don't see millions upon millions of people getting into mods, both these things sound like Sony is trying to battle M$ for the PC market, which isn't that big to begin with. Maybe I'm missing the potential there I don't know. 

What I mean about gameplay is that I just like when they show games doing stuff you don't normally see, and I see it more in the third party stuff. Like in the Fracture video I'm like okay this looks pretty then he threw that grenade and the land sung into a pit sucking everything into it, and I was like, "Holy crap thats cool!" The ps3 is capable of insane stuff, not just for graphics but for gameplay, and I felt that the 3rd parties showed that better then Sony and Microsoft did. And the reason I don't get excited about those other games that are on the ps3 is that they are not exclusive.

I'll be shocked if they drop the price again, I mean a 100 bucks is a big nut to swallow taking another hit this year, is going to hurt Sony to some extent. But I will say a 400 dollar ps3 will definitly be on my buy list. I'll probably get one by fall of 2008 I figure by then it will definitly be 400 and there will be tons of great exclusives.
