I think the reason that the new 80 gig is popular not because of BC, but what it offers in terms of space and the new Dualshock 3 controller (MGS4 helped a lot as well, but there will be no bundled game with the new 80 gig). Combine this with the greatest hits collection for the PS3 (games are more affordable), now there is little reason to have BC. There will be plenty of unique PS3 software to appease anyone by then. BC is important to a degree, but with more software moving in compared to last year, BC becomes less important.

It's not like last year where good games came out every 6 months.
