 You've got it wrong, here's how it goes...

Nobody could ever have dreamed FFXIII would go to the 360. This is like Halo type game going to the PS3 - It CAN'T happen...In Halo's case it really can't happen literally. In FFXIII's case it couldn't happen because it would be unthinkable...Do you realise how much doubt this puts in the mind of any potential PS3 owner?

This won't suddenly change anything, but it will REDUCE sales for the PS3 by a good few percent at least until it is released, we're talking hundreds of thousands.

So in essence, its not that it will sell a bucket load of 360s, it won't. It will stop a bucket load of PS3s being sold OVER A PERIOD OF TIME...Which will go to the 360.

I mean what exactly does the PS3 have to offer now? There's no A list titles left Killzone 2? LBP? Thats exactly the problem...Those titles aren't mass market appealing and I hadn't even heard of Killzone until that recently...Its not a HaloGTAV...

The ONLY thing the PS3 has going for it is Gran Turismo 5...Its not out around a year!

 

(So it really is a big deal, this will alter millions of people's perception of the PS brand and the PS3 in a negative manner)

All of this has been true for the last 6 months and still the PS3 has outsold the 360 in that time period.  This will have about the same impact as GTA IV going multiplatform.  It will keep some people from buying a PS3, but not enough to make a real difference.
