I think this list was very interesting and appropriate. You can't discount the handheld games Nintendo's been publishing, because their new casual-centric gaming philosophy didn't start with the Wii. It started with the DS (Brain Age, Nintendogs, etc.). If anything, it was just crazy to see Nintendo more than double the amount of games they publish per year in such a short time frame.

Regarding the quality vs. quantity argument, quantity is extremely important in this business. When you have a million games, 99% of them will be crap, and if you're lucky 1% are real gems, but more importantly you'll have the most diverse library of games on the market, and that's what consumers see when they walk into a store. Before you even look at the games you can see how many there are. The diversity is very important. Every system is guaranteed a few great games, but diversity is what wins market share. I mean, almost any list of the top 10 greatest games will be almost all N64, GameCube, and DreamCast, which were all dwarfed in sales numbers by the PS2. Find me a list that says Grand Theft Auto or Madden is the best game of all time. PS2 won with diversity, and most of it was crap.
