Region Coding on the PS3

So, here's my question, how does region coding work on the PS3?

 

I'm under the impression that games are not region coded (vs PAL and NTSC on Wii, for instance). However, are Blu-Ray movies region coded, and what about DVDs?

 

Can someone set me straight on this? Thanks.
