Imagine Sony unleashes a 100 GB PS3 tomorrow, starts selling it for $600. At the same time, they throw the 60 GBs in the trash, and drop the price of the 80 GB PS3 to $500.

The next day, they unleash a 120 GB PS3 , start selling it for $600. At the same time, they throw the 80 GBs in the trash, and drop the price of the 100 GB PS3 to $500.

Wow, PS3 had two price cuts in two days!

Guys, it's a distinction between dropping the price of a MODEL and dropping the price of a CONSOLE. It's two different things.

I just said something similar in the "Sony-what price cut??" thread. You managed to word it more clearly IMO. NJ5 is correct. The PS3 didn't recieve a price cut, the 60GB model of the PS3 received a price cut. The cost of entry remains the same to the consumer. You need the same amount of money now that you did in November. You are just getting a much better deal now, but the minimum cost of entry is still $500.

Sorry, I swear I didn't copy your idea ;) I just posted a link to this thread on that one, thanks!
