Look at attach rates of consoles ...
Many users owned 100+ games on the PS2 but I doubt the attach rate of the console ever passed 15 or 20 games; tons of consoles were sold with only a couple of games. This is how the industry has always operated and only a fool would produce a console where you needed to recover hundreds of dollars from game sales.
