Well, only Sony could make the "next PS2" just because they own the trademarks and copyrights etc. I don't think that Nintendo or Microsoft could possibly sell the next PS2 without possibly having all their money stolen in a lawsuit. But in saying that, The PS2 couldn't be the next Wii could it?
