Since I am neither a psychic nor a good enough analyst, in order to predict Wii's future I look at the 2nd best thing DS. And DS has so much in common with the Wii it is not even funny, when DS came out every claimed that it was a gimmick and a lot of people predicted that PSP is going to wipe the floor with it due to it's superior processing. But once Brain Age and Nintendogs rolled in DS started to sell like hotcakes and now everyone and their dog makes games for the DS.

Of course, Wii does not equal DS but there are a few things to be learned from all of this:
1. Developers could care less about loyalties, they only care about profit margins.
2. It takes time for the developers to shift their focus. It takes years before a game goes from just a concept to a finished product.
3. Inferior technical specs dont matter nearly as much as some claim. PS2 also proved that.

The Wii may not dominate its competitors just as PS2 but I think that is mainly due to the fact that PS2 had some of the worst competition ever. It came out a year ahead of Gamecube and Xbox, Gamecube had a terrible image and Xbox was the first ever attempt by Microsoft in the console business. I would love to see how PS2 would have done if it came out at the same time as its competitors and was predicted to be in the last place.
