Nobody cares about Blu-ray, it's too soon, not big enough a step in quality, and costs too much.
VHS lasted nearly 25 years, peple aren't interested in replacing DVDs in less than 10, especially when they only overtook VHS in 2003, only 5 years ago. It isn't like HDTVs are the sitting in every home either, most people don't have one.
Sony tried copying the PS2/DVD player 'package' with PS3/Blu-ray. It failed, horribly. |
Difference being that Blu-Ray drives play DVDs and upscale them. DVD drives didn't play VHSs, so the transition this time will be more organic, b/c people don't need to replace thier whole library at once.
Blu Ray movies are selling better than DVD discs were at the same point in their lifetime. Your last sentence is a failure.
