Well OpenGL will always have the benifits here, you have to remember that Direct3D is mainly designed for real time rendering (games) whereas OpenGL is designed for every 3d application. Also remember that the way OpenGL is designed means that it can use every feature a video card supports through extensions, and also everything it doesn't can be done with software rendering (at a heavy performance cost), while DirectX works by simply standardising video cards.
So OpenGL will look better, but in most cases won't perform better. Of course, DirectX had millions thrown into it in order to lock Windows in as the defacto PC gaming platform standard and further solidify Microsoft's handhold on the PC OS world.
EDIT: Of course, images will only look as good as the amount of time artists spend making them. But some of those faces look incredibly life-life.
