I don;t know what they'll do, but I can guarantee you they won't do only digital. Their main market, the United States, is more than 3,500,000 square miles (9,000,000 km^2) of land that has practically no fiber-optic access. Heck, a very sizable portion doesn't even have ANY broadband at all. No, dd won't happen next gen. maybe not even the gen after that.

Yeah I feel the same way, internet in most countries is pitiful. i.e my 1.5mb adsl is considered fast in Australia and paying $70 a month is considered cheap (for what I'm getting) even though my relative's overseas get much much much faster internet, more downloads, lower cost.

Also, I like the feeling of having something solid in my hands, because I take good care of my discs and I would be constantly worried that a error in a hard drive may result in me having to download everything again (which if you've been paying attention, would be a slow and painful process under my 1.5mb adsl).
