Gotta love E3. Ever since E305, the FFVII remake rumors pop up every year during the Summer.
FFVII would help the ps3 somewhat, more so in Japan than anywhere else. It wouldn't lead to millions more sales or anything, though.
In my opinion, FFVII would probably convince a lot of FF/JRPG fans to get a ps3 for whom FFXIII/Versus weren't enough incentive by themselves.
I think SE would be smart to remake FFVII for the ps3, because 1. it would sell millions (probably 7+ million), 2. it would increase the sales of both FFXIII and Versus, and 3. Sony would probably be willing to pay millions for exclusivity.
