The answer is: Super Mario Galaxy

My guess would be because of time (completion), market (hardcore vs casual), and spacing (not having two AAA in the same month).

Mario Galaxy comes out in a more desirable time frame (November) because it will have a broader appeal and will grab a lot of casual gamers as well as the hardcore. Everybody knows who Mario is and what Mario does (squash goomba's...in bumble bee suits apparently).

Brawl is a fanboy's wet dream. Pinning up character A against character B. The hard core gamer would buy this anytime, even in December...and I doubt it will have as broad appeal to the casual gamer considering it uses four different controllers and no waving of the wand (...yet...?).

You space them out and make lots of money. I think that makes sense? Non?!
