The thing is, those effects are most likely doable in DX9 as well.  DX10 only brings 3D acceleration to the windows desktop (aero) - it doesn't really affect games at all, other than making them twice as hard to run.

 

 

Bioshock and Crysis differ a little, you can show me pics with similar effects, but they are not the same...

Well, I'm essentially saying that the effects are probably doable in DX9, but devs choose not to make them available (probably due to prodding from MS) in DX9 mode on purpose.

Also, I didn't see the original thread, so thanks for posting this one.  It was good for laughs
