FF6 also had a female lead.

 

FF6 didn't have a main character/lead.

I dunno.  I'd say the first half of the game IS Terra's Story.  While the second half is Celes'.

I'd say that they were the two most important characters in the game by a lot.

 

Don't forget Aya Brea, the heroine of Parasite Eve.
