No it wouldn't, lol. The "different genre" business is for n00bs. I'm a human being with a working brain. I am perfectly capable of comparing the quality of a game across genres, much like I am with movies and music. I also don't descriminate about games across genres. My favorite genre is "good." Judging from Killzone 1, and knowing the propensity for Sony and the Killzone developers themselves to totally screw the pooch, if I had to venture a guess, it would be that in the very excellent genre of FPS games, Killzone 2 probably won't end up near the top. I mean, Half-Life 2, ep 3, Resistance 2, if KZ2 is even only Halo 3 good, the critics are gonna Haze it. I would give up my hope for shining reviews right now, if for nothing else, lots of reviewers disrespect PS3 exclusives. Now, the 3rd person action survival horror/shooter genre is much less populated and hasn't put out a decent game since RE4. If Alan Wake is even halfass good, it'll get 8's and 9's.
Now, there is no doubt that Max Payne "owns the face" of Killzone 1, despite the genre difference. IMH and educated O, there is at least a 50/50 chance that such a comparison will eventually be made about these 2 games. I fully expect KZ2 to be an average to good FPS, no doubt, but Sony is trying to create Halo, and Killzone ain't it. They would have done much better to simply name the game something else.

This doesen't relate at all to how good the game actually is. Rather a mass perspective on how much it will have to do to be viewed good by the mass media.
By the way, alan wake doesen't (by the looks of it) touch Killzone 2.
