for the united states "white" doesn't equal white for the census

in the 2006 census 80% of the population of the USA is "white"

because White = all non asian, non black, non hawaiian , or american indian, it includes all western european decent populations, middle eastern, lebonese, hispanic mexican, etc.

white without those that are hispanic is 66%

taking out the middle eastern/arabic decent drops that percentage down another ~7%

so the classic white person for the usa is ABOUT 55% of the population of the USA

black is 12.6

there are more hispanic people in the usa than black (14% hispanic)

why do dev main characters tend to be white? not a freaking clue, but "white" characters can have Extremely varied looks in terms of faces, hair color, eye color. of which hair is probably the #1 thing that people notice about characters while not realizing they are, 3rd person shooter, you are looking at the back of their heads...hair. rpg's 3/4th perspective, you are looking down first thing you see is..hair .

a white person's hair can be blond, redhead, brown, black, and any shade of dye they choose to use (pink purple)

a black person's hair is a shade of darker brown or black 99% of the time(even those that shave their head their hair is still that color

an asians hair is black ~80% of the time

believe it or not HAIR is the main reason....

white characters can have the most varied colors for hair "naturally" thus artists can express their vision better.

sure you can have the pinks, the whites, etc with dyes, but those-until recently- colors haven't looked that good.

so its Hair
