OT: I think we see an overwhelming majority of white protagonists because of the industry. Historically, video games have been made by white people for white gamers. This is definitely changing but until there are a significant amount of non-white programmers and game developers, that probably won't change much. It's not really racist, people just have a habit of gravitating toward what they know IMO.

I'm not sure about that one. Whites killing whites is a lot different from a Sudanese killing whites. It won't matter to most gamers? Then why aren't developers taking the risk. Don't use games like San Andreas as examples because those games don't have heroes as leading men, they have villains.
For those using Altair as an example, the whole point is that Altair could pass for white because some have even suggested that the so called "Aryans" originated from Iran anyway. All the counter-examples people use seem to have characters that would be considered white if not for the game's setting.
