MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Mortal Kombat Trilogy HD Fan Remake Public Beta Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/mortal-kombat-trilogy-hd-fan-remake-public-beta-released/
It’s been a while since our last look at the HD fan remake of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Well, good news, Mortal Kombat fans. A couple of days ago, modder ‘Interloko’ released its first public beta that you can download and play.
From what I can tell, Interloko used AI tools to upgrade all of the character 2D sprites. As such, the new HD sprites look highly detailed, and they retain the art style of the originals.
The remake has a few HD stages. It also adds a new stage based on the latest Mortal Kombat movie. Keep in mind, though, that many stages have not been updated yet. I expect Interloko to improve the rest before the final release.
The goal of this release is to get the game into as many hands as possible. This will let fans test it and share their feedback.
(...)
Now, while all the fighters have been upgraded, there are no finishing moves yet. These will take a lot of time and work to add. Keep in mind that this beta is meant to test the core gameplay. It is not a demo of the full game.
If you are a big Mortal Kombat fan, I highly recommend downloading the beta. You can get it from here (itch.io). Below, you can also find a couple of videos for it. These showcase all the characters. They also feature the new HD stage, as well as the overhauled stages.

GTA 5 AuraV Enhanced Mod Adds Path-Traced Lighting & Shadows, Volumetric Clouds, and More
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/gta-5-aurav-enhanced-mod-adds-path-traced-lighting-shadows-and-major-graphics-upgrades/
Modder ‘KBase’ has released a new graphics mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced. This mod, called AuraV, brings path-traced lighting and shadows, as well as some new graphics features. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
AuraV Enhanced is a graphics mod for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC. It adds many new visual effects to make the game look better than ever.
The mod adds path-traced light and shadows. Light can now bounce off walls and other surfaces. Streetlights and bright signs also cast ray-traced shadows. Not only that, but the mod also adds ray-traced reflections. Plus, NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction can help make these effects look even better.
The mod also adds a new sky, volumetric clouds, and a more realistic atmosphere. Ocean waves now react to the wind. Rain, lightning, thunder, smoke, and heat haze also get an upgrade. Skin lighting has been improved as well. You can even see rain on the camera lens.
It’s also worth noting that you can change the mod’s settings while playing. All you have to do is press F10 to open the menu, and then adjust its settings.
Those interested can download the mod from here (kyposmods.com). At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it.

Forza Horizon 2 PC Port Is Here, and It Looks Absolutely Gorgeous
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/forza-horizon-2-pc-port-is-here-and-it-looks-absolutely-gorgeous/
Itc.io user ‘Almost There Games’ has just released an unofficial PC port of Forza Horizon 2, which came out exclusively on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014. This PC port is based on the Xbox One version, and even after a whole decade, it can look gorgeous.
This unofficial PC port, called Azimuth, changes Xbox system calls so the game can work with Windows and DirectX 12. Right now, it supports game version 1.0.0.64. So, that’s the version you’ll need to own and use. Otherwise, it won’t work.
According to the team behind it, this PC port is not that demanding. In its current state, it can run at 720p and 60 FPS on a Steam Deck. It can also reach 1080p at 30 FPS. So, those owning a mid-tier PC system will be able to enjoy it at 60 FPS.
You can pick your screen size and set the frame rate to 30 or 60 FPS. There are also three graphics modes. Low mode uses lower settings than the Xbox One version. Default mode matches the Xbox One look. High mode adds better shadows and reflections. It also lets shadows reach much farther and uses better car models and texture filtering. You can also change the anti-aliasing. The options are off, 2x MSAA, and 4x MSAA.
To get started, you’ll have to download Azimuth from here (itch.io). Once you have downloaded it, you can launch it and select the game folder. That folder must contain the files and folders the launcher needs. As I said, the PC port is only compatible with game version 1.0.0.64.

Console-Exclusive Call of Duty 3 Has Been Ported to PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/console-exclusive-call-of-duty-3-has-been-ported-to-pc/
And here comes another one. One of the few Call of Duty games that has not been released on PC is Call of Duty 3. And now, after two decades, we finally have an unofficial PC port of it.
Call of Duty 3 came out in 2006 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. This unofficial PC port is based on the Xbox 360 version.
Like most of the other unofficial PC ports, this one supports resolutions up to 4K. You can also change the image size, switch between windowed and borderless full-screen modes, and adjust the field of view. The port supports MSAA, FXAA, and texture filtering. Not only that, but you can also change texture quality and model detail.
What’s also cool is that the port can run above the Xbox 360 version’s 60 FPS limit. You can set a frame rate limit or let the game run as fast as your PC can handle. The menus and video clips still use their own frame rates, though.
Another great PC feature is the day-1 support for keyboard and mouse. Furthermore, you can turn raw mouse input on or off, and every key can be changed in the settings menu. This will feel like a proper PC game.
The PC port supports all 15 levels. The menus, loading screens, opening video, fights, and save points work, too. And, like in most modern-day PC games, you can skip video clips with the Space key.
It’s also worth noting that there is an in-game settings menu. You can use this menu to change the graphics, controls, and other options. You can also turn on subtitles, use the game’s aim assist, and open a command console. The console supports cheats and other commands, such as god mode and free movement.
All in all, this PC port is the definitive way to play Call of Duty 3. And since it never came out on our platform, this is the best time to play it.
Those interested can download it from this link. Like all PC recomps, it does not have any in-game assets. To play it, you’ll have to use your own Xbox 360 ISO.
