AI doomer/optimist?

I’m a doomer! While I do recognise the potential of AI to help mankind, and solve some of society’s major challenges, the AI utopia would mean we didn’t have to work so much, but could spend the time on the family and things we enjoy. However, that is unfortunately not the timeline we are on.
AI development is being driven by the same psychopaths that gave us social media, private data harvesting, mass surveillance, doom scrolling, personalized ads, software as a service etc. The people who promised prosperity, but instead ruined the media landscape, and maximised their profits by pushing self-harm on little girls. The people who have built their own private doomsday bunkers, while they are eroding the living conditions for the rest of us, profiting on stealing everything mankind has ever created. Hacking their way in everywhere, but escaping responsibility, because it was “the AI” that did it.
Yeah, you are basicly delusional if you believe that these people will take society in a better direction. You can vote for better regulations, sure, but we all know who’s really in charge now.
We can hope that their own recklessness and hubris will be their downfall.
I firmly believe that next year we will see a major event that will make the huggingface incident look like a tiny warning. Maybe AI will hack itself into a major bank and empty people’s account, break down the internet by mass corrupting it with bots and garbage or something like that.
