I thought this warrants its own discussion instead of getting burried in the other AI threads.

My question is basicly, if AI can create art (novels/movies/music/video games etc) and it is indistinguishable from human creation, does it have any value to you? Is the fact that art is made by a human an important factor for how you perceive it, and where does that leave the future art, if you can no longer distinguish what is made by a human and what is made by AI? Is art as we know it just dead?

For context:

AI is developing at a rapid pace, it is already producing a lot of dogshit that is being pumped out on social media. But it is not just poorly made garbage that is coming out anymore. This year books nominated for major awards have come out, getting accused of being written by AI, either because it is the case, or because it is indistinguishable from human writing at this point:

Songs are topping the charts, then pulled down when it is revealed that they are “recorded” by AI:

We all know about how easy it is to develop/mod video games with AI now. No doubt that it is getting more and more common for video game developers to use these tools. And it is impossible for the consumer to tell to which extend AI has been used in development.

When it comes to feature length films, we maybe have a bit to go yet. AI can absolutely create believable videos now, and they can write the script, actors are being brought back from the grave, but the examples of feature length films I have checked out are still of quite poor quality, I guess it is also more difficult to keep the AI use secret considering how many people are involved in making a movie. But I guess here it is also just a question of a couple of years then AI can make feature length blockbusters.

I guess sculpturing is still fine for a decade or two.
