Part two of the Thursday gaming news:
Agony! Two life sims I really want to play launched back to back
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/life-sim/agony-two-life-sims-i-really-want-to-play-launched-back-to-back/
It can be fun when two things that have virtually no overlap in target audience become jokey allies by sharing a release date. Like when Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom Eternal launched on the same day. Or Barbenheimer. The inverse is trickier: When two things launch simultaneously whose venn diagram of fans is a circle. Cruel fate, I am the circle! This week two new life sims have launched and I desperately want to be playing both.
>> The games are Nivalis Nights and Songs of Glimmerwick .
World of Warcraft: Forever survey pitches new classes to players, including Bard, Witch, and more

The blue elves might not be the only wholly original addition to World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard started surveying players about a list of new classes, some of which have been requested by fans for years.
TIL what may or may not be the oldest board game in recorded history is also, perhaps inevitably, now a roguelike

Are you aware of Oh!Ware? I'm guessing not. The deckbuilder has been on Steam for about a week as of this writing, with a humble 23 reviews to its name so far. It caught my eye though, because the fundamental mechanic underneath the very 2026 trappings of a roguelike structure and marbles standing in for cards is mancala—a slightly older board game you probably played at some point in your childhood.
And by "slightly older," I mean somewhere between 1,500 and 7,000 years older.
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG… oh, Final Fantasy 11, that's new

Final Fantasy 14's free trial is massive—so massive, in fact, that it's become a bit of a copy/pasted meme over the years. The sentence "have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14" is burned into our brains.
And, to be fair, it's a bloody huge one, currently letting you play for free for as long as you want right until the end of Shadowbringers (with some big limitations, mind). Still, it's a few hundred hours without a single monthly sub payment. Well, Final Fantasy 11's gonna be following in those footsteps, per the FF11 site.
Arc Raiders' is taking no prisoners when it comes to cheaters with permanent bans becoming the new normal: 'No warnings. No second chances'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-is-taking-no-prisoners-when-it-comes-to-cheaters-with-permanent-bans-becoming-the-new-normal-no-warnings-no-second-chances/
Embark is bringing forth a monumental effort ahead of Arc Raiders' anticipated major Frozen Trail update scheduled for next week . The devs have teased a bunch of new features like a temporary PvE mode, loot hotspots that change places, and a chance to build a base Topside, among a huge bevy of new items and arcs. And while I've been suitably hyped for all of this the issue of rampant cheating has still been in the forefront of my mind, Embark has now addressed this too.
And here's the only short article from today:
