Yeah I have a feeling the recent discourse around PlayStation has effected that score lol. I can understand a fall in quality from SM2 but going from 90 to 78?

This is backlash from reviewers, whether consciously or not.

I respectfully disagree. Major studios like Nintendo EPD, Insomniac, and Bethesda... get "bonus points", not the other way around. That "seal of pedigree" carries weight in reviews—make no mistake.

Wolverine must be truly problematic if it can't even crack an 80 with the "Insomniac seal of pedigree".

Edit.:

Besides, reviewers rely on the publisher's goodwill; they wouldn't put themselves in a position to anger Sony over issues like protesting the "end of physical media."

I doubt they would risk rating Wolverine far below its "actual performance". The game is bad—plain and simple.

Insomniac doesn't have what you call a seal of pedigree. They are respected for their productivity but they never were quite perceived as a top tier developer by critics.

That said, Wolverine is one of these games that I was initially looking forward to but the more I saw the more I was disappointed. Maybe my opinion would change if I ever played it but it just doesn't look like a great game.
