On Topic: The main reason is because there are not many non-caucasian people in the game industry. I asked my African-American friend who is a good programmer why he doesnt pursue a job at M$, Apple, or in the game industry. He said that his mother wants him to be a doctor so he is going to college to be one. Zero idea if this is a trend with African-American folks or not but I know a lot of African-Americans who are interested in gaming but would rather please their mother or parents by becoming lawyers, doctors, etc. |
One of my level designers is African-American and he's also gigging out in Cali with a few other projects that are even bigger. I've met quite a few black people within the game industry at several GDC events. Sure, its a low percentage overall, but it's not like they don't exist =)
