The second, and final, part of the Friday gaming news:
Holy crap, it's happening: Dwarf Fortress gets its first Myth and Magic update later this year, bringing each player's world its own procedural magic system
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/holy-crap-its-happening-dwarf-fortress-gets-its-first-myth-and-magic-update-later-this-year-bringing-each-players-world-its-own-procedural-magic-system/
Even as it achieved fractal complexity by modeling feline alcohol poisoning, procedural bardic traditions, and delayed-action thermonuclear dragonfire, the creators of Dwarf Fortress—brothers Tarn and Zach Adams—have maintained still loftier ambitions for their legendary fantasy sim. In recent years, that effort has been guided by one goal: Creating magic. Procedural, universe-specific magic, interwoven with the unique cosmology and mythology modeled each and every time the player clicks the "create new world" button.
For a game already setting a high watermark for simulational complexity, it's an incredibly ambitious endeavor. It's taken a decade. It's demanded a complete scripting overhaul, aided by the heroic effort of Bay 12 Games' first non-Adams programmer, Putnam. Frankly, it's almost strained believability. And it'll start arriving later this year.

Manor Lords celebrates 4 million copies sold with a new major update which gives players the chance to become 'a cow-herding mogul'

Manor Lords is on a roll—with the medieval management sim celebrating the monumental milestone of over 4 million copies sold across all stores. And to commemorate the good news comes its next major update.
The new Major Update 8 will add a bunch of new features and quality-of-life bumps to Manor Lords. Soon you'll be able to use apples to make cider, honey to make mead, and thresh easy-to-grow oats so you can feed both humans and livestock.
Speaking of, there's also the chance for players to become "a cow-herding mogul with the ability to breed and import bovine livestock" alongside the new benefit of being able to make little barns for your sheep to help them last through the cold winter months.
Star Citizen's Squadron 42 delayed again, this time to avoid 'the attention buzz saw of GTA 6' says Chris Roberts

We see games getting delayed all the time, but today's delay is particularly notable because this particular game was first supposed to come out in, ooh, let me check... Yep. All the way back in 2015.
Squadron 42, the long-awaited, celebrity-packed episodic singleplayer component of Star Citizen has been delayed once again. And why? This time, according to game director Chris Roberts, it's to avoid the media hubbub around another oft-delayed game: GTA 6.
