As for ArtznCraphs comments I disagree there lots of non-white history, fantasy, etc to base games off - Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Persian, African, North American Indian, etc., etc. But American audiences historically don't care about anyone but themselves (also they aren't as famaliar with the subject matter). Which is why games like Jade Empire and movies like Apocolypto underperform.

I wasn't saying there is no other history worthy of basing games off of.  I'm saying that the white mans influence on the planet is so large, he is viewed, even by other cultures, as the center of major world shaping events.  And since video game concepts mostly deal with events that are crucial relative to their settings, it is no surprise that the majority of protagonists are white.

I don't really like it, but that's the way I see it.

I respectfully - and totally - disagree with this point of view.  Although there is no denying the West's influence in the rest of the world, it doesn't mean they like or respect it or wouldn't prefer to play a character with looks, values and culture they share.
