Beast of Reincarnation director apologizes for not providing 'a sufficiently enjoyable experience,' but promises Game Freak is working on it

Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation arrived earlier this month, and the reaction has been a little iffy. It holds a respectable 73/100 aggregate score on Metacritic—lining up quite nicely with our own 73% review—but the response on Steam is "mixed," with many user reviews expressing some variation of "close, but not quite." And for that, game director Kota Furushima is sorry.

This spy game is a dream come true if you love spending time in character creators
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/puzzle/this-spy-game-is-a-dream-come-true-if-you-love-spending-time-in-character-creators/
Are you someone who spends almost as much time creating your characters as you do playing them in an RPG? Love obsessing over the details of your avatar's facial features, browsing the menu of noses, eyes, ears, and facial hair for ages? Think you're good enough that you could make your character look so much like someone else that you could fool people?
Good, because Legion Was Here is a game that spends more time in the character creator than it does anywhere else, and if you can't create a convincing character, you die.
>> Not in real life, I hope.

Nightdive's System Shock remake is coming to VR
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/vr/nightdives-system-shock-remake-is-coming-to-vr/
Nightdive's System Shock remake is great. PC Gamer immsim guy Joshua Wolens gave it an 80% review score, and we later chose it as the Best Remake of 2023 in our annual Game of the Year awards. Three years down the road, Nightdive is following it up with System Shock VR, a VR game being developed by Flat2VR Studios.

Come September, you won't need a single Total War: Warhammer game to play its colossal, trilogy-spanning Immortal Empires campaign
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/come-september-you-wont-need-a-single-total-war-warhammer-game-to-play-its-colossal-trilogy-spanning-immortal-empires-campaign/
Yesterday we finally got to see a full reveal for everything arriving in Total War: Warhammer 3's Lords of the End Times expansion and it's a whole heap of content. We've got Nagash and his undead legions, a fully-fleshed out Boris Todbringer and Middenland, plus the Glottkin's putrid hordes, and the greatest of Grey Seers, Thanquol and his giant rat-ogre, Boneripper.
But nestled among the reveals was also the announcement that when Lords of the End Times launches on September 24, you'll no longer need any Total War: Warhammer games to play the huge trilogy-spanning Immortal Empires campaign, which is the best bit of the series. From the official DLC summary:
"In a series first, purchasing any of the [Lords of the End Times] content grants access to the colossal Immortal Empires campaign with no need to own any of the Total War: Warhammer games, making it a great entry point for new players."

After a public scrap between CEO and former writer, Saber Interactive finally adds AI disclaimer to Steam page and doubles down: 'AI can and should help shape gamer experiences'

One of the unexpected stories this week has been that of a rather public spat between former Saber Interactive writer Stella Sacco, who claimed she was replaced in favour of AI, and the publisher's CEO, who tore into her via a statement sent to This Week in Videogames.
(...)
You can read both parties' full statements in the articles linked above—the most recent development is that Saber Interactive has been seemingly pressed into adding a Steam AI disclaimer to the game's store page, which is present at the time of writing, but was notably not present when the game was put on the store on July 30.
>> Well, well, well. Look who was lying, unsurprisingly.
