The Monday gaming news, the surprisingly short part two:

Ubisoft's NFT tactics game, a thing that still exists, is shutting down in October

Nobody could have foreseen this.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, Ubisoft's NFT tactics game, will be shutting down in October, as announced on its website and its official Discord. If you need a refresher—I did, despite having previously written about the game—Ubisoft launched Champions Tactics in 2024, long after most of the tech-adjacent industries had relented on trying to push quarter-baked Web3 feature pitches and shifted their attentions instead to the emerging AI boom.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 just closed out its second year of post-release support with a one-two punch of updates. Since Confrontation's release, a separate update has added Steam Workshop support to Saber Interactive's hugely successful shooter.

American Truck Simulator is headed to North Dakota in its latest DLC

North Dakota may not be the most dazzling US state, but it is one of them, and so it's set to be absorbed into American Truck Simulator's expansive recreation of life on the road. The game's next DLC will take players through the state's "sweeping prairies, fertile farmland, winding rivers, and endless skies."

FF7 Remake director had to tell his team to 'be reasonable' because they got too excited about the FF14 crossover: 'That would be putting the cart before the horse'

Final Fantasy 14 isn't any stranger to crossovers—but Evercold will be a first for the MMO, wherein both the raid series and the alliance raid series (8-man and 24-man raids, respectively) will be crossovers. With the latter being a whackadoodle Evangelion crossover, and the former being a far more reasonable FF7 one.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, current FF7 remake director Naoki Hamaguchi (who will be involved in the crossover) tells the site his team was really pumped to "come up with all these ideas", but at "the same time we have to be really careful that it's not impacting the FF14 patch release schedule, because then that would be putting the cart before the horse".

Dragon's Dogma 2 will be getting its first big proper chunk of DLC soon, and in addition to nixing those weird microtransactions that did more harm to word-of-mouth than the actual game, it's also slated to be getting a hard mode difficulty for players who have everything maxed out.
