I have literally thousands of discs, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, 4K Blu-rays, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo discs. Some of them were pressed in the 80s. Only once have I noticed disc rot on one of them (a DVD), and you know what? It still played fine.
To be fair I probably have a handful of discs (maybe 10-15) that stopped working properly because of scratches, some of them still worked if I used another player and some of the discs could probably just be resurfaced.
