I've already been 'quitting' gaming for years. Digital games don't engage me as much and since I stopped visiting the game store weekly or at least every other week my modern gaming declined.
I used to buy physical, trade in game, buy second hand games dirt cheap, replace faulty controllers with refurbished ones, stay up to date of upcoming release dates. The last couple years I hardly game in summer anymore, and then only evergreen games, Synthriders and Puzzling Places. In Winter I revisit GT7 and other VR games. Yet the last time I bought an AAA game on release was BG3 and it was a disappointment and I couldn't even trade it in. I'm still interested in exploring the map in GTA6, probably the last modern AAA game I'll buy.
Maybe the next Zelda can still entice me to get a Switch 2, I don't know. OoT remake isn't getting me excited. Maybe the next 3D Mario can make me bite. However they better come out before the hardware becomes too expensive! I wish Nintendo would release a home console version of Switch 2 with BC (thus incl disc drive)
