I won't be speaking in absolutes as misinformation continues to be spread amongst the news media. All we're being told now is that id Software is back to the size they were when they shipped Doom 2016. I don't think we'll get anything concrete till Quakecon.

I read this comment that does make a good point. Essentially studios getting too big and returns not justifying the size increase since COVID.

When comparing the return from the 2016 version to return on The Dark Ages, did a bigger cost base result in meaningful gains?

Eternal is something of a wildcard because it released right at the start of COVID.

We've heard this all over the industry, assuming this is what is going on. Studios that doubled or tripled in size were not able to create returns proportional to that cost increase.”
