Next time memory prices go back down though, I'll be upgrading straight to 128gb while I have the chance

I'm still very happy with my 32 GB DDR4 memory in combination with my Ryzen 5800X3D.

Should be "good enough" until PS6 + Xbox Helix raise the bar... perhaps even another few years in the "crossgen phase".

My Haswell/DDR3 combo also served me well over 7 years through the whole 8th console gen, with my current setup 8 - 10 years should be possible:

Perhaps I skip DDR5 and save my money for an AM6 mainboard and 64 or 128 GB DDR6 memory.

Yea in retrospec, I didn't really need a 7800X3D with DDR5. Going from 5950x to 5800X3D + 32GB of DDR4 would have been enough outside of some cpu limited games for me as well. But if the ram situation clears up by the end of Zen 6 or Zen 7 when DDR6 comes out, I'll probably upgrade my build in order to keep it as long as possible instead of upgrading my current build to 128GB.
