In other news, I finished Slime Rancher 2 recently.
it's a rather easy-going game. I like how the game kind of naturally teaches you the mechanics with exploration, capturing of slimes and the farming side of things.
It's a cute looking game and I enjoyed the gameplay loop, but only up to a point. The main thing I didn't enjoy was the farming: the area in which you can place plots feels unnecessarily disconnected. It's basically 4 or 5 different islands that you need to run to. You're essentially meant to automate alot of the work, eventually, but until that point, it can feel a lot like busy work. I think when I finished the game I only placed plots on 2/ 3 of the islands. And I found that to be a little exhausting to manage.
One thing I noticed about the game was the purpose of friction in games. Once I had finished the main storyline and got the platinum afterwards, I realise that without any driving force left in the game, it didn't really hold me attention. Anything else I could do in the game was just what I had already accomplished, but not in a way that challenged you to do more.
I wish the game had more interesting farming structures in place. It feels a little too basic for what it is. But it's a relaxing game if you need something different in your rotation.
