The second part of the Thursday gaming news:
Capcom has heard feedback that Onimusha is too easy, says it's 'confident fans will be satisfied with difficulty' in the final game

A week removed from Summer Game Fest, one of the demos I can't stop thinking about is Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The behind-closed-doors demo was different from the one that's available on Steam—it took place slightly later in the game and showed off one of the game's "open areas" within Kyoto.

Guild Wars 3 hopes to solve the problem that made me quit Guild Wars 2 after thousands of hours with the series

I'm thrilled by the announcement of Guild Wars 3, but there's a little voice in my head that keeps whispering "you know you won't have time for a new MMO." It's a fear that ArenaNet seems keenly aware of as it begins to set expectations for the sequel, which plans to begin beta testing in 2027.
In a blog post this week, ArenaNet laid out several things that it believes are the "core philosophy" of Guild Wars 3: no subscriptions, no pay-to-win, respecting your time, and evolving the MMO genre.
Hours after announcing a collab with Fortnite, Vampire Survivors dev suggests it may back out over Epic's touting of generative AI

Epic announced several upcoming Fortnite collabs earlier today, including one with Vampire Survivors. But a few hours after the presentation, Vampire Survivors developer Poncle left a Reddit comment suggesting that the partnership might not happen after all.
While the post is brief, Poncle seems to be reacting to a recent video which demonstrates how Epic artists use generative AI to assist with the design of Fortnite characters and locations, and perhaps also to today's reveal of generative AI features in Unreal Engine.
PlayerUnknown's survival game becomes free-to-own and offers Steam refunds 'without restrictions on playtime or how long ago you bought the game'

Normally a game leaving early access would be cause for celebration, but I daresay that's not the case for Prologue: Go Wayback! It left early access on Steam today, but it's also doing so in an unfinished state with no plans for further development. (...) Prologue: Go Wayback! is also now free on Steam, so if you want to own it forever, all you have to do is download it.
D&D-inspired Critical Role's homegrown videogame is coming along well, says Laura Bailey: 'There's a lot of work being done'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/d-and-d-inspired-critical-roles-homegrown-videogame-is-coming-along-well-says-laura-bailey-theres-a-lot-of-work-being-done/
Back in July of last year, Dungeons & Dragons livestream megafranchise Critical Role announced that it'd be working with AdHoc to make its very own video game based in Exandria—having already partnered with the company in the past to bring the very solid superhero management sim, Dispatch, to life.

And judging by Laura Bailey's words in a recent episode of Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, that project's coming along swimmingly. Bailey, who currently plays the pixie rogue Thimble (as well as Jester Lavorre and Vex'ahlia in past campaigns) tells Josh Scherer that while she's gotta keep things close to her chest, the project's moving and shaking. Which isn't just me paraphrasing
Dave the Diver: In the Jungle's cutscenes are even hornier than they are in the base game
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/dave-the-diver-in-the-jungles-cutscenes-are-even-hornier-than-they-are-in-the-base-game/
I've said it before and I'll say it again: cutscenes are the worst. There I am, sitting down to play a game, ready to tap some keys and wiggle some thumbsticks and click my mouse—when suddenly the game I'm playing decides it's actually a movie and all I can do for the next few minutes is watch.
(...)
Except when they don't suck, of course, like in Dave the Diver, which is the only game I can remember playing where I was left wishing there were more cutscenes instead of zero cutscenes. Dave the Diver's cutscenes were so energetic, so fantastically animated, so surprising and funny and occasionally kinda horny that I loved every one of them and wished there were more.
Well, I got my wish. For the past week or so I've been playing Dave the Diver's new DLC, In the Jungle, which is not only completely rad but has some amazing cutscenes that are somehow even more wild, and more horny, than the cutscenes in the base game.
Please excuse my bad English.
