Been digging some more - all this SoC plus unified RAM reminded me of Amiga 500 days, when home computers were fixed hardware, but somewhat upgradable (like Amiga was with memory expansion slot). So, if they make them with LPCAMM2/CAMM2 standard (there are already laptops and motherboards with it), you get benefits of both soldered RAM and upgradability (though you'd probably need to replace whole existing memory with bigger module).

The problem is that, if you look at the laptop market today, most of them come with soldered memory with no room for upgrade it. It's a bad precedent and it shows where we could be heading if this comes to desktops.

What can I say, I'm pessimistic about this.
