DualSense PC gamers have been vindicated at last, as haptic support is finally here—though no thanks to Sony
https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/controllers/dualsense-pc-gamers-have-been-vindicated-at-last-as-haptic-support-is-finally-here-though-no-thanks-to-sony/
I spent a decent chunk of my early career writing about all things PlayStation. But despite all of that, I wouldn't call Sony's DualSense controller my go-to gamepad for PC gaming. Well, the latest DSX beta update might just make it a real contender.
Traditionally, you can use a DualSense controller on PC via a wired connection or over Bluetooth via an extra adapter. What a faff! Furthermore, there's no official support for the pad's detailed haptics on PC—so the team behind DSX are now extending unofficial support over both Bluetooth and wired connections. The v3.2 Beta 01update adds "Virtual DualSense with Audio support, allowing games to send native DualSense audio and haptics through DSX over Bluetooth or USB" (via WCCFTech).
There is a catch, though. The update post notes that haptic and controller-based audio support will require "DSX+ to create a virtual DualSense as it always has been." Essentially, that means you're going to have to pay $7.99 for the base software on Steam, and then another $3.99 for the DSX+ 'DLC'. In short, paying over 10 bucks for functionality that's standard on PS5 does feel a wee bit cheeky to me. That said, small teams providing unofficial support like this have gotta eat too.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Gears of War Redux Overhaul Mod Released on PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/gears-of-war-redux-overhaul-mod-released-on-pc/
Gears of War fans, here is something cool for you today. Modder ‘PunishedWolfOG’ has released Gears of War Redux. Gears of War Redux is a community overhaul of Gears of War 1 on PC that adds the content and quality-of-life improvements the original release never got.
Going into more details, Gears of War Redux adds maps from GW2 and custom community maps to the rotation and custom community maps. It also adds Horde mode, Horde+, KOTH, Guardian and TDM.
What’s also cool here is that the mod adds split-screen co-op support. As such, you can play the entire campaign mode with a friend on one PC. Not only that, but we get split-screen local multiplayer support for every multiplayer mode.
Bots now have adjustable difficulty in every multiplayer mode. Plus, there is a Last Stand Horde toggle. When you enable it, the wave ends when the last human dies. There is also an in-game chat system. And, in case you’re wondering, yes. We also have support for full keyboard rebinding with split cover/evade keys.
Furthermore, there are some tech improvements. For instance, we get support for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11. We also get ultra-wide support (21:9 / 32:9) with proper FOV.
Before closing, I should note that this mod is for the original PC version of Gears of War. It’s not for the Reloaded Edition. So, make sure to keep that in mind. The visual enhancements that came with the Reloaded Edition are nowhere to be found.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess PC Update 1.4.0 Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess-pc-update-1-4-0-released/
The team behind Dusklight, the unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has released a new update for it. Update 1.4.0 adds proper mouse support. As such, you can now enjoy The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on PC with KB&M. Finally.
Update 1.4.0 also overhauls the game’s performance. According to the devs, CPU-limited systems can see performance gains of up to four times in some situations. The team has optimized many parts of the renderer, including particle effects and GPU frame submission. As a result, players should experience smoother gameplay and more stable frame rates, even in demanding areas or during scenes with lots of visual effects.
And that’s not all. Update 1.4.0 adds ASTC DDS support for texture replacements. This means that Texture pack authors can now ship desktop packs with BC7, and mobile packs with ASTC. Furthermore, we get individual X and Y sensitivity settings for Free Camera. Plus, there is a preview now for when changing “Enable Texture Replacements”.
It’s also worth noting that the game should now be more stable on your PC. The devs have fixed a crash that could occur when talking to the Zora under the waterfall in Zora’s Domain. They have also fixed a crash that could occur in Hidden Village after getting Ilia’s Charm from Impaz. Furthermore, they have fixed the Monkey loading crash in Forest Temple.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess should also look a bit more and more stable now. Update 1.4.0 fixes issues with the pipeline cache sometimes not populating, causing pop-in issues. It also fixes texture LOD bias and sampler settings for replaced textures. Ganondorf’s cape should now look better. Plus, the devs have fixed some performance issues and crashes with map rendering.
All in all, this is a major update for the unofficial PC version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. You can download it from this link. Below, you can also find its full patch notes.

A lost Dragon Ball Z fan RPG has resurfaced after mystery user drops it in a seven-year-old forum thread
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/a-lost-dragon-ball-z-fan-rpg-has-resurfaced-after-mystery-user-drops-it-in-a-seven-year-old-forum-thread/
About seven years ago user pikablu of the Resetera forum started a thread about an old Dragon Ball Z fan RPG that had long fallen into obscurity. It was an MS-DOS game that "used a lot of sprites from the Super Butōden games", which were Dragon Ball Z games released for SNES consoles in the '90s. According to the user, this rugged fan RPG was available on a Dragon Ball Z site called Planet Namek.
The thread attracted 14 responses. No one could help.
But everything changed today when new user BenjiBrew entered the fray. They too have spent years looking for this Dragon Ball Z RPG, and luckily had some success finding it. BenjiBrew "stumbled across an old backup CD of one of my old PCs from 2004" and found the strange artefact, whose full title is Dragon Ball Z - Wish for Immortality. Not only that, they offered a MediaFire link and some screenshots so that the game won't "vanish into the void again".
Here are the screenshots BenjiBrew posted:
***four screenshots go here***
It wasn't long before the thread creator confirmed that the game is indeed the one they were seeking. "I've 100% confirmed it is it," pikablu wrote. "I streamed the game with my friend who also played it before and we both lost our collective minds when we found Icebox is in the game!!!"
(Icebox, as the user explains earlier in the thread, is the RPG's name for its equivalent to the Cooler character.)
Thanks to BenjiBrew's discovery the game now has a home on archive.org, where a little bit more information is provided. The game was made in O.H.R.RPG.C.E., or Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Construction Engine. This is a free and open-source game creation engine first released in 1997 and most recently updated in January 2026. While RPG Maker predates it, it wasn't until 2005 when RPG Maker XP made its PC debut in the west, so for a long time O.H.R.RPG.C.E. was the go-to option for home made 8-bit style RPGs in the west.
To play Wish for Immortality, you'll need to download the O.H.R.RPG.C.E. client, which is available here. Then you can head to the archive.org page to grab the game itself.
