This is mostly gamepass and now hardware prices going up (ram/ssd's).
Xbox have invested over $20bn in xbox (gamepass/subsidies for hardware) in the past 5 years.
And revenue has been going down. That basically means you wasted 20bn.
(factor in the $76bn they also spent on ABK... that is alot of money, to see revenue shrink)
Meanwhile Sony has said they have had the most profitable generation ever, with the PS5.
So Sony might have pocketed like $20bn in profits, while the reverse is true for Xbox.
But yeah.... Sony tried with PC, and it was like 3% of their revenue or something small.
The loss in brand and potential new PS players, you could have lost to pc, might mean its not worth it.
As much as people might dislike it, platforms need exclusives.
