Tuesday gaming news part two, where I’ve included the most relevant articles that were left behind yesterday. Sadly, most of them are about new games so it’s not like I’ve been able to trim much away.
Anyway, here we go:
Off-road racing? Psh, try off-world racing: Exo Rally Championship just launched on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/racing/off-road-racing-psh-try-off-world-racing-exo-rally-championship-just-launched-on-steam/
Exo Rally Championship first appeared at the 2023 PC Gaming Show, and now the extraterrestrial racing game is back with big news: It's out on Steam today.
We've just got a new look at 'the sequel to the award winning strategy game', Duskers 2.0, which promises higher stakes and a more emotive story
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/weve-just-got-a-new-look-at-the-sequel-to-the-award-winning-strategy-game-duskers-2-0-which-promises-higher-stakes-and-a-more-emotive-story/
10 years after Misfits Attic released the highly acclaimed real-time tactics roguelite Duskers, we're finally getting a sequel. And this time the developer is promising to expand upon the first game "by adding purpose."
A shooter we called 'one of the boldest, freshest games' of 2023 is getting a sequel: El Paso, Elsewhere 2 sends a slo-mo vampire into the void
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/a-shooter-we-called-one-of-the-boldest-freshest-games-of-2023-is-getting-a-sequel-el-paso-elsewhere-2-sends-a-slo-mo-vampire-into-the-void/
El Paso, Elsewhere is an acclaimed indie gem—dropping in 2023, PC Gamer contributor Dominic Tarason called it "one of the boldest, freshest games of the year"—it followed the harrowing adventures of one James Savage as he slow-mo shot his way through a reality-warped 46-story subterranean motel filled with vampires, werewolves, and other nasties.
Well, now it's getting a sequel—as announced at the PC Gaming Show, El Paso, Elsewhere 2 will be coming to Steam next year. There's no specific release date, but there is a trailer. Rather than being stuck working over hospitality with his arsenal of weapons, Savage will be travelling along the United States this time in a journey that'll eventually see him pulled into the void itself, all to save the person who betrayed him.
Co-op RPG Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent brings the board game to PC—and it's available to play right now
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/co-op-rpg-terrinoth-heroes-of-descent-brings-the-board-game-to-pc-and-its-available-to-play-right-now/
Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent, the tactical RPG based on the 2005 board game Descent: Journeys in the Dark, launched just now during the PC Gaming Show. Literally, I mean it's live right now on Steam, you can go and download it while you watch the rest of the show.
Pipes.exe is a co-op horror game about the world's favourite screensaver
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/pipes-exe-is-a-co-op-horror-game-about-the-worlds-favourite-screensaver/
It is the year 2026, and for computer touchers that means only one thing: we're going back. We're going back to before AI, before Office 365 and Game Pass upsells during the Windows installation process, before someone spilled glue on your taskbar and locked it rigidly in place. We're going back to the jagged OSes of old.
You can take that either as an imploration to adopt Linux (which it is) or as interest in Pipes.exe (which it also is), the co-op horror climbing game/operating system that just got its world premiere at the PC Gaming Show.
This co-op clown cacophony crams over 80 minigames into a single videogame
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/this-co-op-clown-cacophony-crams-over-80-minigames-into-a-single-videogame/
You know the classic clown car gag, where a seemingly infinite number of clowns exit a comically small car? Well, Clowntown is like that but in videogame form. In a world premiere trailer that just debuted at the PC Gaming Show we got a look at a ton of the minigames on offer in this co-op party game.
From the creators of Mouthwashing comes a co-op tank game with a disgusting twist
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/from-the-creators-of-mouthwashing-comes-a-co-op-tank-game-with-a-disgusting-twist/
A lot of co-op games are cozy or funny. That's not so much the case with Carcass Clad, a new co-op tank game from Wrong Organ, developer of Mouthwashing.
We just saw the world premiere of Carcass Clad at the PC Gaming Show, and it looks absolutely feral. Your character is mere inches from hot, dangerous machinery, and you've got to operate your section of the tank and communicate with your crew to stand any chance of defeating your enemies. If you've ever watched Fury, that's the vibe.
After half a decade, Valheim 1.0 finally has a release date
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/after-half-a-decade-valheim-1-0-finally-has-a-release-date/
It's finally here. After more than five years in early access, Valheim has a 1.0 release date: September 9, 2026.
The news was just revealed on the PC Gaming Show, where we also got a look at what that 1.0 update will bring, which you can watch in the video embedded above.
>> And here’s a first look at the final biome (link).
If you've ever thought to yourself 'Yeah, me and my mates could probably take on Batman' then P.O.N is the next horror game you should check out
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/if-youve-ever-thought-to-yourself-yeah-me-and-my-mates-could-probably-take-on-batman-then-p-o-n-is-the-next-horror-game-you-should-check-out/
A new co-op horror game is coming our way, but instead of collecting trash or trinkets P.O.N sees players take on missions from criminal syndicates. The only problem is those pesky crime-fighting superheroes everyone seems to love so much.
Into the Wind is a gorgeous, Ghibli-esque adventure about taking over your missing uncle's delivery service, but with more dogfighting in your aeroplane bike
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/into-the-wind-is-a-gorgeous-ghibli-esque-adventure-about-taking-over-your-missing-uncles-delivery-service-but-with-more-dogfighting-in-your-aeroplane-bike/
There's something deeply satisfying about delivery games—in a sense, most videogames are about getting from point A to point B, but being incentivised to do so in style's always a great table on which to set a cosy adventure. As the case seems to be with Into the Wind, a gorgeous, ghibli-esque looking action adventure/delivery sim with a mind to do just that.
This marks the end of the Sunday articles.
It's fine if the visitors to your theme park die in this sim: it's actually the whole point
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/its-fine-if-the-visitors-to-your-theme-park-die-in-this-sim-its-actually-the-whole-point-because-youre-a-cannibal/
I've played a few theme park sims in my day, which means I've accidentally—and occasionally on purpose—killed some of my guests. Maybe it was a faulty roller coaster, or maybe it was a roller coaster I'd deliberately removed a few lengths of track from just to see what would happen. Sorry (or not sorry) valued park guests!
But revealed today at the Future Games Show is the first theme park sim I've seen where the whole point is to kill your guests. At least there's a darn good reason for it: you're a cannibal. A hungry one.
In My Cannibal Family, you got whacked by the mob and stuffed into a drum of toxic goo, emerging as a mutated monster with an appetite for living human flesh. It happens.
Hellblade studio kills its mysterious 'horrors of the mind' project so it can make a new Senua game instead
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/hellblade-studio-kills-its-mysterious-horrors-of-the-mind-project-so-it-can-make-a-new-senua-game-instead/
Back in 2020, Senua studio Ninja Theory announced a new game, Project Mara, that aimed to "recreate the horrors of the mind" with a "real-world and grounded representation of mental terror." A year later we got a look at the game's absurdly photorealistic apartment, but beyond that it pretty much fell off the radar until yesterday, when studio head Dom Matthews said work on the project has been ended.
Studio says 'not every publisher' is swerving GTA 6's release and declares a November 5 release date for its game: 'Maybe we're just not afraid enough'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/studio-says-not-every-publisher-is-swerving-gta-6s-release-and-declares-a-november-5-release-date-for-its-game-maybe-were-just-not-afraid-enough/
For reasons I can't quite explain—except to admit that San Andreas was very good—the entire Earth has become one big millenarian cult awaiting the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6, which will purge us of our sins and deliver us to apocatastasis. It will also make four hundred quintillion dollars.
No wonder, then, that its current November 2026 release date squats on the calendar like a big criminal troll, warding off any who come near. No studio wants to release in the vicinity of GTA 6, leading to a very lopsided 2026 release calendar in which every game has tried to squeeze itself into September. Well, every game but one.
"Maybe not *every* publisher," wrote Furyu Games in a post on X, responding to a Kotaku story titled "Sony’s State Of Play Showed That Every Publisher Is Terrified Of GTA 6". Furyu declared, boldly, like its upcoming roguelike Crymelight is due out November 5, two weeks prior to GTA 6's launch (and concurrent with Guy Fawkes Night; he would've been a fan). "Maybe we’re just not afraid enough".
>> They’re no the only one. As the article reminds us, Devolver Digital also has a game planned to be released the same day GTA 6 launches.
15 minutes is all you need in this roguelike action RPG to feel like a maxed-out Diablo god laying waste to an entire screen of monsters
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/15-minutes-is-all-you-need-in-this-roguelike-action-rpg-to-feel-like-a-maxed-out-diablo-god-laying-waste-to-an-entire-screen-of-monsters/
A dozen roguelike action RPGs show up on Steam every month, but none of them have grabbed me like Cursemark. I play plenty of these games and know how long of a grind it usually takes to feel like you have a satisfying combination of skills that you could call a build. In Cursemark, I was wiping the screen clean of monsters in just 15 minutes.
You should back up your Forza Horizon 6 save before its latest bug brings you to tears
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/racing/you-should-back-up-your-forza-horizon-6-save-before-its-latest-bug-brings-you-to-tears/
Japan at your fingertips, over 600 cars to collect, and now the live-service Series updates rolling out every week, you could easily spend hundreds of hours in Forza Horizon 6. In fact, many people already have. I've put in 50 hours so far, and plan for many more learning to actually beat Touge races in style for a change. But what if you could lose it all in the blink of an eye? Well, you can. Sorry.
A bug has been discovered that's been wiping players' saves pretty indiscriminately. Take a quick look at the various Forza Reddit pages right now and you'll see a swathe of people hit with a blank slate.
Please excuse my bad English.
